«Gaining financial independence: Saving the future of muslim organizations?»
Muslim organizations such as MSA's, mosques and youth organizations play an essential role in our communities and are contributing greatly to our society. The majority of the work associated with these organizations is done by volunteers without any financial gain or even reimbursement. Cost are often covered by donations or membership fees.
We all know the calls for donations in mosques after the Friday prayers. The question arises for us as a Swiss Muslim community if this current mode of financing our costs and relying on voluntary non-paid work is sustainable for the longterm future.
In his talk, Naveed will elaborate why he thinks that financial independence is crucial if we want to improve or at least maintain the services of our organizations in the longterm future. Furthermore, he will give a small overview over how Muslim societies financed projects in the past and based on that he will propose a model of financing for our Swiss community.
